Asparagus - Franz Neudeck

These pictures were found by coincidence. Situated close to my hometown Gelnhausen, Germany, I have seen the asparagus fields for many years without noticing them.

But then one day – and it was on January 1st, 2013 - I recognized something new about them. Just before sunset the ice filled ditches and plastic packed mounds were bathed in a glowing light.

Suddenly, for me these structures had no agricultural meaning anymore and I started to take pictures. Of course I also came back in spring and in summertime, and I always found new fascinating lines, waves and reflections.

In July 2013, the series was successfully presented in Berlin. To achieve new variations I am now working on different print techniques and sizes.
